Once a year, at a family’s Annual Recertification, the Housing Authority must give the family the option of choosing between an Income-Based Rent or the established Flat Rent.
Due to COVID-19, HUD is temporarily waiving this requirement. The Housing Authority may give families an additional opportunity to choose between a Flat Rent and an Income-Based Rent within the same one-year period. This waiver expires on June 30, 2021 unless extended by HUD.
