ADVICE FOR PET OWNERS

Owners of pets should follow some simple advice to protect their furry/feathered friends during COVID-19 mitigation:

- Be sure the Housing Authority has current contact information of family members or friends who can
care for your pet in case you become ill, and be sure you have a Pet Sticker on your apartment door to notify emergency responders that a pet is in the home.

- Have a crate/cage, food, and extra supplies on hand in case the pet has to be moved.

- Be sure all vaccinations are up to date in the event boarding becomes necessary, along with proof of
current vaccinations. If you don't have proof, contact your veterinarian for a copy (a digital version on a mobile device would also be acceptable proof).

- Ensure all medications are documented with dosages and administration directions, including the
prescription and contact information for your veterinarian.

- Ensure that your pet has proper identification: collar with dog license and rabies tag; other vanity style tag with owner information; or, microchip. Identifying information should also be placed on the pet's
crate/cage.

Please note that COVID-19 cannot be contracted or transmitted by cats and dogs (World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
